Job Description
Casual Secondary School Teachers (7-12)
Covenant Christian School is seeking applications from suitably qualified teachers to join our Secondary School in a casual capacity as we seek to provide not only high-quality teaching to our students, but a distinctly Christian education which ensures that a biblical worldview permeates the school’s teaching and learning practices.
Casual teachers are required by the school from time-to-time to stand in for regular class teachers who may become unavailable, either at short notice or as part of planned leave. You will be engaged for a minimum half-day engagement (but usually full days), and as a casual employee you will not need to accept all casual engagements that the school may offer.
As a Secondary School Teacher at the school you are responsible for implementing the Vision and Mission of the school in the context of the classroom. Student's work will have been prepared by the regular class teacher, enabling you to focus more on classroom supervision.
At Covenant, you are to show godly leadership to students, expressing your faith not only in the way you relate to them individually, but with all the interactions you have inside and outside the classroom, especially with staff and parents.
You will deliver curriculum content from a Christian perspective and in an age- appropriate manner that encourages students to think biblically about relevant areas of study along with being challenged to develop and use their gifts wisely.
You will be supported by our Head of Secondary School and Director of Teaching & Learning. Our Extension & Enrichment Coordinator, Learning Support team, Student Wellbeing Team and School Counsellors all provide additional support, where required.
You will implement a child safe culture that promotes positive wellbeing for students and implements the school’s discipline and welfare programs to help to instill cultural expectations in Secondary School.
Over 40 years committed to the same Vision and Mission Covenant Christian School was founded over 40 years ago by Christian parents who passionately believed that parents are responsible for bringing up their children in the training and instruction of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4).
Their vision was a school that provided a comprehensive education, taught to a high standard by Christian teachers, in which Christ was recognised as Lord of all. This education was not only to prepare the students for future study or work, but for life itself.
Today, this vision lives on through a dedicated Board, School Association, staff and community, united in this original Vision and Mission.
VISION To faithfully serve in God’s plan to restore all things under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
MISSION To assist parents in the nurture of their children, by providing a Christ-centred, biblically grounded, culturally engaging and academically rigorous education to equip the children to live for God’s glory.
Located in leafy Belrose, NSW, Covenant Christian School is 19 kilometres north-east of the Sydney central business district in the local government area of Northern Beaches Council.
As a Christ-centred community, we recognise that all staffing positions support, and are supported by, all other roles. Such inter-relationships require us to consult and collaborate with our staff.
