Role Description

The Covenant Christian School Dance Academy partners with parents in the nurture of their children by providing opportunities which allow students to express their faith, gifts and creativity through dance and performance. This is done in an encouraging, Christ-centred atmosphere. Whilst offering students a variety of the most popular dance styles, incorporating modern music and movement, the Dance Academy ultimately desires students to glorify God.

 

We seek a suitably qualified and experienced dance teacher to join our team, in a casual capacity, fostering a love and enthusiasm for dance in our students by teaching a variety of dance styles to students between the ages of 4 to 18 years.

 

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Committed Christian of a reformed evangelical persuasion actively involved in the life of their local church.
  • A genuine passion for, and capability in, Christian education and who wholeheartedly subscribes to the school’s Statement of Belief.
  • Relevant qualifications, training or experience, with a background in most dance styles, including but not limited to; Ballet, Lyrical, Jazz, Hip Hop, Drama and Musical Theatre
  • Experience teaching students between the ages of 4 to 18 years, with a particular emphasis on the ability to engage with young children with enthusiasm and energy
  • Passionate in encouraging students to develop their God-given gifts through Dance.
  • Strong relationship and communication skills for building rapport and engaging with students, parents and other school staff.
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment
  • Professional, energetic, positive, approachable and engaging manner with a focused work ethic.

 

GENERAL DUTIES

  • Teaching a variety of dance disciplines within our program between the hours of 2.45pm to 6.10pm on Monday - Thursday, during term time
  • Planning and preparing for classes or rehearsing existing routines from current teacher
  • Work collaboratively with the Dance Academy team to prepare and rehearse routines for the end of year Concert
  • From time to time the Dance Academy teacher may be required to undertake other tasks as directed by the Creative Arts Coordinator or Director of Co-Curricular.

 

WHS

Staff will also participate in school safety, such as by completing risk assessments, addressing hazards and reporting safety incidents.
